A CHARITY is on the move in more ways than one.

The John Holt Cancer Support Foundation is looking for a new home and to help the charity cover the moving costs, founder and co-ordinator Chris Holt will be taking on her own fundraising challenge.

She will travel from Warrington to Liverpool by foot, mobility scooter and electric chair in a bid to raise £1,000 towards the costs of solicitors and removals.

“I wanted to do a walk but I can’t because I have got arthritis, so I am going to try and have a go and see and the next best thing will be to do it on my scooter,” she said.

“It is just me doing the sponsored event but then some of the guys said they would come along on their bikes with me.

“All I had thought about was having a support team but as we have been asking people to donate about eight people have said they want to get involved. I didn’t expect that.”

Chris is also asking people to keep an eye out for any properties that might suit the charity's needs and allow them to help even more people.

She said: “Part of the reason for moving is so that we can develop our services and to help us become sustainable by freeing up money that is needed to pay bills and rent here.

“It would allow us to hopefully assist more people by going out into the community because it will free up money that we have tied up in bills and rent.

“We are appealing to anyone who might know of any properties available for us to use to let us know.”

The ideal building would include around six or seven rooms, have a car park, an outside space and be on or near to major bus routes.

The charity is also asking people to sponsor a brick for £10 in return for it being up on the wall at the centre and the name of the person in a book in the entrance.

Chris will set off on her walk from Warrington Hospital on May 31 between 10am and 10.30am and will walk or ride past Whiston Hospital, Broad Green and the Royal before finishing at Liverpool Women’s Hospital around seven hours later.
