THREE years on from the sad death of schoolboy Ciaran Latham-Geddes, his Oakwood family are still as determined as ever to save lives in the youngster's memory.

The seven-year-old happy, bubbly boy suffered a cardiac arrest while playing football near his school, Locking Stumps Primary in April 2012.

Since then the charity Ciaran's Cause has worked tirelessly to raise enough cash to buy a life-saving defibrillator for every primary school in Warrington and has now moved on to sports clubs in the area.

The latest presentation took place at Thomas Risley Church on Thursday after the defib box was funded by the community and church congregation thanks to the support of Rev Andrew and Sally Willet.

Mum Marika added: "The tragic loss of Ciaran in April 2012, in turn brought a community together which my family and I are very proud to be part of.

"The defibrillator is now mounted on the outside of the church if the worse should happen and we as a charity are also arranging free defibrillator training to the community.

"We have achieved this by working and pulling together and we hope to encourage and inspire other communities to do the same.

"In doing this we can keep healthy hearts beating."

Marika, who is pictured with Ciaran's baby sister Angel who was born the year after Ciaran's death, has endured an incredibly difficult three years but says she cannot thank residents enough for their support.

Alongside providing life-saving equipment, the charity has also taught more than 1,000 people defib awareness training thanks to the help of adult education team 'This is Livin'.

Marika added: "On the third anniversary we lost my infectious boo, I knew although his soul maybe in heaven his eternal light lives on within me.

"I would just like to thank the generous public for their continuous support as it has enabled us as a charity to donate over £100,000 worth of life saving equipment.

"We are very busy behind the scenes and at present we are arranging another presentation to 10 football clubs.

"We would also like to say a big thanks to our ambassadors Wolves player Ben Harrison, athlete Iwan Thomas and Peter Kindness from Wedi Uk.

"Without every single one of you we would not be able to carry our work on so from the bottom of our hearts thank you from Ciaran and family."
