POLICE have stepped up patrols following a report of man acting suspiciously near to a primary school in Whitecross.
Officers were on hand to reassure the public today, Monday, but would like to urge anyone who spots any suspicious activity to report it.
Police were alerted to a man acting suspiciously on Friday after he was spotted by a parent as she walked to Sacred Heart School on Selby Street with her child at 8.30am.
The man, who is believed to be in his mid 30s, was seen in the subway on Wellfield Street.
He is described as white, 5ft 6 and shaved dark brown hair and was wearing a white jacket with print on the sleeves and blue jeans.
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
