RESIDENTS in the town are being asked to join in remembrance next Friday to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the IRA bombing on Bridge Street.

The explosion on March 20, 1993 killed three-year-old Johnathan Ball and 12-year-old Tim Parry, led to the death of Bronwen Vickers, injured 54 others and affected many thousands of people.

Everyone is welcome to attend a short commemoration from 12.15pm led by the Rev. Stephen Kingsnorth.

The Mayor of Warrington cllr Ted Finnegan will also be attending and Colin Parry will be speaking on behalf of the victims and survivors.

The ceremony will end with a minutes reflection and silence and the laying of flowers before Wendy Parry collects water from the River of Life to water the 12-year-old Peace Tree in the Great Sankey centre's grounds.

A spokesman added: "The water carried from Bridge Street to the Peace Centre symbolises the ongoing work for peace and reconciliation and coincides with the beginning of spring and the tree blossoming."

Everyone is welcome at Bridge Street and to join the charity for refreshments at the Peace Centre.

E-mail ann.beswick@foundation4peace.org if you would like to attend the Peace Centre after the commemoration.
