A GROUP of travellers, who had set up camp just off the Birchwood Expressway, have moved on.

Concerned residents had previously spoken out over their fears of the growing litter problem since the travellers had set up camp just off the Birchwood expressway last week.

One resident, who has asked not to be named, raised concerns about the amount of litter that has been mounting up at the site.

She said: "There are open bags of rubbish and, with the wind, the litter is blowing everywhere.
"This area used to be immaculate."

Around eight caravans had moved on to the land on February 24 but the group are understood to have moved 'on their own accord' yesterday, Sunday.

Police say they are unsure of their exact whereabouts but they are believed to have left the town.
