A fearsome hitter in defence, Morley has phenomenal power at impact in the collision and can dominate the course of a game, and he was the driving force behind the Roosters pack that reached three consecutive Grand Finals between 2002 and 2004, defeating New Zealand Warriors to claim the 2002 Premiership. Morley grew up in Salford, playing for Eccles amateur club before turning professional with Leeds, for whom he debuted in the 1994/95 season at the age of only 17. He rapidly became a regular in the Leeds line up, and made his first Great Britain tour in the Kiwi/Oceania tour of 1996. After being on the losing side in the 1998 Grand Final against Wigan, Morley won the 1999 Challenge Cup Final against London Broncos before signing for Sydney Roosters at the end of the 2000 season in which he appeared for England in the World Cup. He declined overtures from Australia to play State of Origin for New South Wales as it would have rendered him ineligible to continue playing for Great Britain. In 2005 he returned to the UK for a short-term contract with Bradford Bulls, winning the Super League Grand Final and thus completing a quadruple' of winners' medals in both Super League and NRL Grand Finals plus the Challenge Cup and the 2003 World Club Challenge victory over St Helens.
