IT was as if the ghost of Christmas past visited Lymm as villagers stepped back in time for Dickensian Day.

The pages of Charles Dickens' novels were brought to life through the period dress of residents, shopkeepers and councillors for the traditional festive celebration.

Chris Adamson, of Mill Lane, even brought along his 1893 Aveling & Porter steam engine, Vanguard.

But it was not all a 19th century picture as schools and community groups dressed as elves and reindeers and took to the streets of Lymm for the annual parade led by town crier Peter Powell.

For the first time there was also a 'Santa Dash' on the day led by Lymm Runners.
