THE BBC's Formula One coverage saw Lewis Hamilton's dreams come true at the end of last month.

But it was also a special day for a Great Sankey family after mum Gemma and son Harvey Ackerley, aged nine, joined forces to put together the opener for the coverage.

Gemma, who works for the post production company 422 in Manchester, wrote the script for the opening sequence ahead of the championship race with Harvey playing the part of a young Nico Rosberg playing Scalextric alongside a young Lewis Hamilton.

She added: "My husband Gary has always been a huge F1 fan so watching it over the years I had the passion and drive to make something inspiring for the audience.

"I was thinking about the rivalry from two teammates from such an early age and thought Harvey looks like Nico Rosberg and that's how the idea started to develop.

"The feedback has been brilliant and it was even mentioned on the Chris Evans breakfast show so it's been nice to highlight the talent in the north west."
