FATHER Michael Gibbons died on August 5, aged 70.
Father Gibbons, from Dulwich, London, was born in Warrington and had lived in Manchester in the course of his ministry.
He studied at St Francis Xavier College in Liverpool and was ordained into the priesthood on May 31 at St Stephen’s RC Church, Orford, Warrington.
He served in many parishes in Manchester and more recently in London where he had lived for the past 25 years.
He acted as chaplain on many cruises to various parts of the world and enjoyed travelling and visiting friends in many countries.
He leaves many friends.
A service was held on September 22 at St George’s Catholic Cathedral, Southwark, London, prior to cremation.
The Archbishop Peter Smith officiated at the service.
Arrangements were made by Allbins of London.
