The University of Chester provides a close knit community campus in Warrington offering courses with a close eye on employability. The 30 acre site has excellent teaching, social and recreational facilities to support the academic work of the Public Services Group (education, nursing, policing, safeguarding, social work, sports coaching and youth work); the North West Media Centre (advertising, TV, radio and music production, media, photography and film); the Warrington School of Management (business management, events, marketing & public relations); and the Department of Sport and Community Engagement. Some 1500 students at the Campus are following 30 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate degree programmes. A proportion of the University’s 400 PhD students are supervised at Warrington where academic staff have authored or edited over a dozen books in the last two years.
The Warrington Campus enjoys a range of multi-professional partnerships within both the public sector and the media world. These include links with Warrington Wolves Rugby Club, Culture Warrington, Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Warrington Chamber of Commerce. The University is the lead sponsor of University Technical College Warrington (UTCW); an engineering and energy STEM-focused college for 14-19 year olds, which is due to open in September 2015.
