MARK World Stroke Day on Wednesday by getting your blood pressure checked.

The team from Stroke and the Stroke Association will be on hand to answer questions and offer blood pressure checks between 2 and 4pm at the entrance to B12-B14 (stroke ward) at Warrington Hospital.

Jane Guy, from the Stroke Association based at Warrington Hospital, said: “World Stroke Day is about celebrating life after stroke and also raising awareness of the devastation a stroke can cause.

"We need people to understand that a stroke can happen to anyone at any time and that there are ways to reduce your chance of a stroke.

"For every ten people who die of stroke, four could have been saved if they had arranged regular blood pressure measurements and then followed medical advice. It is vitally important that people make an appointment with their GP practice to have their blood pressure measured regularly."
