POLICE are hunting for a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman in Callands - only to be bitten by the victim's dog.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was walking her dog on a path off Callands Road when she was attacked by the man.

He ran off after being bitten by the dog, and Cheshire Police says he is believed to have suffered an injury to his hip.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm on Monday, September 29.

Police have now released an E-fit of the suspect, who had his face partially covered.

The man is described as around 5ft 5ins tall, aged between 25-30, of stocky build and brown eyes.

He was wearing a black hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

DC Simon Fisher said: "We are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or seen anyone acting suspiciously.

"The victim was left shaken by what had happened but was not injured.

"Fortunately the dog caused the offender to flee the scene before anything further took place."
