AN award winning acapella choir from Warrington will be singing for their hearts in a campaign to raise money for the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.

Cheshire Chord Company, who have been UK national ladies barbershop singer champions six times, are taking part in Heart Research UK’s Sing for Your Heart campaign by performing a recital at the Trafford Centre, in December.

And the group are calling on others to come forward and play their part to help raise money for the charity which helps spread the message of keeping your heart healthy and funds research in to conditions like heart disease.

Choir member Julie Westgate said: “Singing is good for your health, both mentally and physically, and you get so much out of it. The fact we are raising funds for Heart Research UK makes it even more meaningful.

“We like to do something for charity every year and we thought Sing for Your Heart tied in with the choir performing and raising money for an important cause.”

Heart Research UK has spent £578,000 worth of research grants in the north west in the last 10 years and £78,000 on community healthy heart grants in the region over the same period.

Heart Research UK ambassador and Warrington Wolves assistant head coach Willie Poching, who recovered from a heart attack in 2012, supports Sing for Your Heart.

Willie said: “Singing is good for your heart so why not combine it with fundraising for Heart Research UK by putting on your own event and helping improve treatments and techniques for people like myself who have suffered from heart problems. I know at first hand how important research into heart disease really is.”
