COUNCILLORS and police have joined forces to clampdown on drinking on two town parks.
Clr Tony Higgins (Lab - Fairfield and Howley) and former Mayor Clr Peter Carey have met with police to tackle the aftermath of alcohol drinking in Brickfield and St Peter's Park, off Orford Lane.
New signs at Brickfield Park now warn people they could be punished if caught drinking in the park.
Clr Higgins said " I and a few volunteers alongside Warrington Borough Council have been working hard to transform Brickfield.
"Drinking alcohol in these areas will not be tolerated.
"The bottles and cans that litter our green spaces are a thoughtless act of negligence and in some cases dangerous, especially if the glass is broken.
"This becomes a serious issue for children playing and people with their dogs."
