TWO funding projects which will help primary schools in the town expand have been approved by councillors.
Evelyn Street Primary School will get £2.2 million towards renovation of the school building and help to expand the number of places for pupils to one and a half form entry.
The move was welcomed by Clr Pat Wright (LAB - Bewsey and Whitecross) whose ward the school comes under.
She said: "I'm really pleased with this investment in Evelyn Street because they do look after some of our most vulnerable children and this investment has gone down very well."
Chapelford Primary School is set to get £1.2 million to help increase the school entry to three forms to accommodate the growing demand for places in the area.
Work is set to start on both schools next month and finish in April at Chapelford and October at Evelyn Street.
Both projects will be overseen by Galliford Try.
