RESIDENTS in Latchford are being reminded that there will be a number of road closures in place when the English Half Marathon sets off from Victoria Park.

This year's event will take place on Sunday, September 21 and with the races, which include the half marathon and a LiveWire 10k run, coming through the village it means some roads will be closed to traffic.

The popular event is now in its fifth year and attracts runners from across the country as well as from the borough.

With the runs starting and finishing at the Knutsford Road park it means there will be closures in place throughout the morning from 4.30am to 1.30pm.

The affected roads are Knutsford Road from Carol Street to Brook Place, Halla Way, Wash Lane, Station ROad from Wash Lane to Grammar School Road, Cantilever Bridge, Loushers Lane and Weir Lane.

The alternative routes will be via roads including London Road, Wilderspool Causeway, Mersey Street, Farrell Street, Fennel Street, Brick Street, Manchester Road, Kingsway North, Kingsway South, Knutsford Road, Cliff Lane and vice versa.

Emergency access will be kept in place and local and urgent access will be maintained wherever possible.
