TWO celebrity patrons joined the fun at a farm near Lymm to raise £5,000 for charity.

Comedians John Bishop and Jason Manford were at The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust in Millington last Sunday.

They were joined by 800 visitors at the venue which provides holidays and day trips for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the north west.

The charity needs to raise £1million each year to keep their doors open and is the Warrington Guardian's charity of the month for September.

Events fundraiser, Pippa Watton, said: “We were so lucky with the weather this year, the sun shone and it was a beautiful day.

"It was such a great afternoon and we were overwhelmed with the support of local people, businesses and groups who made it a huge success.

"All of the money raised on the day will help us to change the lives of countless children who are in desperate need of a break.”

Among the attractions on show ere children’s fairground rides, face painting from Elmscot Nursery Group and kiddies corner, plus a host of stalls and games.

Long-term supporter Roger Green organised model helicopter displays and stunning classic cars.

And radio DJ Mark Blackman, who hosted the event, took part in a triple ice bucket challenge with Fred the Red from MUFC and Moonchester from MCFC.

The charity treated guests to culinary delights such as a Hog Roast courtesy of Brynleys Catering, a barbecue and a traditional tea room which was run by the 20/20 Women’s Networking Group, who were among an army of volunteers who manned the various stalls and games.
