A BOOKLET on the history of Thelwall Rose Queen has been launched.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of the popular event which takes place each June.
And to celebrate the occasion, the new commemorative booklet has been published.
As well as a general history of the festival, it includes a page per year with details of the year and the Rose Queen's memories of her day and an update of her life since.
These are on sale at the Thelwall Village Store/Post Office at a cost of £3.
This year’s event, with a golden theme to mark the 50 years, was held last month and saw many join the parade through the village before heading back to Chaigeley School field for an afternoon of fun.
Visitors enjoyed goldilocks, gold bullion at the bank, the golden age of the Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt, pirates and the thrill of the Gold rush.
Eva Lavender-Callow, a year seven pupil at King’s in Woolston, was crowned rose queen on the day, taking over from Mary Connors.
Meanwhile, planning for the 2015 festival starts in September.
Organisers say they would welcome feedback about this year, plus new ideas for the future.
Anyone who would like to get involved can email Davina McWhirter, the event secretary, at thelwallrosequeen@gmail.com, or call 266679.
