A 22-YEAR-OLD moped rider is in a serious condition in hospital after being kicked by a horse following a road accident on Delph Lane.
Cheshire Police says the man, from Chorley, collided with a horse-drawn cart at around 11.34am yesterday, Wednesday.
It is believed the horse then reared up and kicked the moped rider.
He was taken by air ambulance to Wythenshawe Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.
A 21-year-old woman, riding pillion, also from Chorley, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance staff.
Two women, both from Croft, travelling in the horse drawn cart, were uninjured. The horse was also uninjured.
Delph Lane was closed at its junctions with Mill Lane and Myddleton Lane, for around four hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 326 of July 9.
