COUNCILLORS will be examining the decision to close Stockton Heath Recycling Centre at a special meeting at the Town Hall tonight at 6pm.
Clr Peter Walker (LD - Appleton) called in the decision taken at the last executive board meeting on a new waste management scheme which includes the closure of the Sandy Lane site.
Since the announcement there has been an outcry from the community about the lack of consultation.
A petition opposing the decision has garnered more than 600 signatures so far.
But in a report to the council's scrutiny committee, who will look at the decision tonight, it recommended councillors do not make any recommondations for the executive board to review it.
