A TEENAGER has been charged with selling drugs to Ellie Jones the night she fatally collapsed at a house party in Longford.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with two counts of supplying a class A drug on May 17, last year.
Simon Pover, prosecuting, said there is no allegation the teenage defendant supplied the drug that caused Ellie’s death.
At Halton Youth Court on Friday, he did not enter a plea, although his defence solicitor indicated he would be pleading not guilty.
Orford 16-year-old Ellie died in May last year, after collapsing at an address on Densham Avenue.
Mr Pover said the former St Gregory’s High School pupil had taken PMA, a dangerous type of amphetamine, known as ‘Dr Death’.
Cause of death had been toxicity, revealed Mr Pover, who said the post mortem showed PMA in her system.
The court heard the defendant is charged with selling drugs to Ellie, he believed to be amphetamine, for £5.
The Blackpool resident is also accused of selling drugs to a second male.
District Judge Wendy Lloyd called Ellie’s death a ‘tragic waste of life’.
She decided to keep the case in youth court, although the seriousness of the allegations meant it could have been sent to crown court.
The next hearing will take place on July 28, at Halton Youth Court.
