POLICE are warning of a computer scam that employs warning from ‘law enforcement agencies’ to con people into handing over cash.
Cheshire Police says it sees malicious software - known as malware - lock computer screens and demand a fine is paid for them to be unlocked.
There are several designs of the software in circulation, according to police.
John Dwyer, Police and Crime Commissioner, and Cheshire Police bosses, have advised they would never use such software.
Anyone who has paid money out is asked to call police on 101, or go to actionfraud.org.uk.
