Swing bridge causes more delays

First published in News

THE swing bridge on Chester Road was stuck open for up to 15 minutes earlier today causing long delays for motorists.

The unknown problem, which caused the bridge to remain open for longer than normal, has now been fixed with the swing bridge closed at 1.25pm.

The council said they were waiting to hear from Peel Ports as to what caused the problem.

Didn't the council request that peel ports holdings updated the swing bridges in Warrington due to poor condition and increased shipping volumes this year?

15 minutes, that's **** all compared to when it swells with the heat in summer and it's stuck open for over a hour!

Up to 15 minutes? The phrase "up to" makes this a meaningless statement. Ten minutes, 5 minutes or even 1 minute are all "up to 15 minutes". If the journalist means it was about 15 minutes or approximately 15 minutes or estimated by onlookers to be 15 minutes then that's what should be written.
