They claim venue has become popular site to target pupils leaving school

RESIDENTS are concerned over drug dealing in Enfield Park with fears children are being targeted after school.

Clr Geoff Settle (Poulton North – LAB) said: “It would appear that drug dealers have been disturbed from their usual haunts and are now parking up near Enfield Park.

“Several residents have contacted me about with their concerns, especially as the activities are occurring during the afternoon when primary school children are leaving school.”

Cheshire Police say that they are ‘fully aware of the issue’, with officers clamping down on dealing in the Padgate area.

Warrington East NPU, which covers the path, patrols areas known to dealers and suspects are regularly stopped to search for drugs.

Bosses at the neighbourhood unit said three arrests over drugs have been made in recent weeks.

Sgt Jordan Trentini said: “Two of these were arrests for being in possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and they are currently on bail for these offences, with ongoing inquiries.

“A third man was arrested for possession of cannabis, and he has been charged with this offence.”

Clr Settle believes dealing is taking place around the play area.
