FAMILIES have been giving themselves a well-deserved pat on the back after covering 10.5 miles during this year’s Angel Walk.

The route, which visits the baby garden at Walton Lea Crematorium, saw walkers who have had children or babies ‘taken too soon’ raise more than £1,400 so far to support neonatal and maternity bereavement services in the town.

Kate Tinker, who runs the charity Harry and Co, organised the walk which is in its fourth year and said she was delighted with the feedback.

She added: “There was a lot of new faces and one lady told me she saw somebody she already knew but didn’t know they had been through the same thing.

“It just goes to show a lot of people keep maternity bereavement to themselves which is one of the biggest problems.

“Seeing so many people join us makes me feel like we’re not alone and what I’m doing is working and creating a network of people to help each other.”
