BUS driver Stephen Worsley has definitely got the X-factor, according to dozens of local passengers.

The popular driver, who works in St Helens but lives in Orford, was crowned the regional winner of Arriva's X-factor competition after passengers across the north west voted for him as their favourite man behind the wheel.

Mr Worsley works on the 620, 39, 329 and 248 routes in St Helens.

Nominated for his excellent customer service skills and helpful manner the 48-year-old was gobsmacked to scoop the prestigious accolade.

He drove away with a sparkling trophy and £100.

He said: "I couldn't believe it when I heard that I had won. But I always try to treat people nicely and hope that they recognise it and do the same.

"I've been working on the buses for more than 20 years and it makes all the effort I put into my work seem worthwhile."
