WHEN it comes to looking good, it's a family affair for Lisa Parker and her mum, Margaret Ford.

The former Guardian Girls got in touch after we asked readers to let us know about their days in the spotlight.

Mrs Parker, aged 37, held the title of Miss Warrington Rugby League and Miss Guardian Midweek in the late 1980s, under her maiden name Lisa Ford.

And her mum, Margaret, represented the paper in the late 1960s, as well as holding a number of regional titles including Miss Warrington and Miss St Helens.

Lisa, from Woolston, said: "My mum did modelling and when I was 18 and 19-years-old I ended up doing bits and pieces as well - I followed in her footsteps.

"It was a real honour. I would go to all the Warrington matches and do the lottery at every home game on the pitch.

"I was in the Warrington Guardian every other week for the whole season, when Paul Cullen was a player and Mike Gregory was the captain!

"I used to go out in town and everybody knew my face, it gave me lots of confidence before I travelled the world on cruise ships working as a masseuse."

Lisa is now a lecturer in beauty therapy at Knowsley Community College and has a four-month-old daughter, Annabel.

Margaret is also in education as Mrs Ford, aged 61, now runs the creative and performing arts department at Warrington Collegiate.

She left behind her days as a model to study GCSE art and graduated from a fashion and textiles degree at Liverpool John Moores University in 1994.
