A MAN has been cautioned for wasting police time after a hoax call was made to say someone was drowning in the canal in Stockton Heath.
Cheshire Police has confirmed a 44-year-old man has been given a police caution.
Officers responded to the ‘incident’ at 11.50pm on Wednesday, January 22.
They attended at the Manchester Ship Canal off London Road to search for the ‘drowning’ person.
A search of the area by emergency teams proved negative and a 44-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wasting police time.
