POLICE are hunting for a man who scratched a woman’s face and attempted to steal her mobile phone in Bewsey.

The incident happened at around 1.10pm yesterday, Tuesday, on Boteler Avenue, close to the junction with Delves Avenue.

Police say the man grabbed the 33-year-old victim and demanded her phone and money.

She refused and he ran off towards Haryngton Avenue.

It is believed the attacker may have observed the victim leaving Betfred on Lovely Lane.

The victim suffered scratches to her wrist and face, according to officers.

The man is described as white, in his late 40’s, of stocky build, and between 5ft 9ins to 6ft.

He had unwashed dark brown short hair, and was unshaven with a round face and blue eyes.

He was wearing a plain black tracksuit top with a full zip but no hood, plain black tracksuit bottoms and dirty white trainers.

He appeared drunk.
