GOING green on the roads has helped Warrington Borough Council become the first authority in the north west to join ECO Stars.
ECO Stars is a scheme that encourages organisations to make their vehicle fleets as environmentally friendly as possible.
It awards stars from one to five as to how well they work in being more fuel efficient which in turn helps reduce costs.
And the council was joined by PepsiCo to local secure transport provider VanArak Ltd at the launch on Wednesday at the Parr Hall.
Clr Linda Dirir, executive board member for transport and climate change, said: “Taking part in the ECO Stars scheme will help the council deliver on its very demanding target of 40% reductions in CO2 emissions.”
Executive board member for environment and public protection, Clr David Keane, added: “We’re working very hard with our partners to improve air quality in Warrington. Having bad quality air shortens lifetimes by several months, so it’s something we’re doing our best to sort out.”
