POLICE have moved to quash rumours of an attempted child abduction in Stockton Heath.

A warning message was circulated on Facebook warning residents a man in a black car had tried to abduct an 11-year-old boy on Monday.

However, Cheshire Police called the reports ‘completely untrue’.

It said an off-duty policeman had warned a young male to stop kicking a football next to his car.

Witnesses saw the exchange and ‘misrepresented’ it on social media, according to police.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “On Monday an officer dealt with anti-social behaviour in Stockton Heath.

“This has been misrepresented on social media.

“There are no concerns for the community.”

The message on Facebook, posted on Tuesday, warned of a man ‘posing as a police officer’ attempting to snatch children.

It read: “Need to let everyone know about a man that tried abducting an 11-year-old boy on his way home from school in Stockton Heath.

“He is driving in a black car with blacked out windows.

“He’s a big, stocky man posing as a police officer.

“He managed to get out of the boy his name and address, before attempting to drag him into the car claiming ‘you need to come to the station’.

“Some ladies intervened and the man drove off telling the boy ‘I know where you live, I’ll be watching you’.

“As he is driving, he will be mobile enough to stalk children everywhere, so I want you all to be very aware.”

So there it is. Dare to tell some young gentleman off and he'll run home and accuse you of being a paedo.
Small wonder nobody dares to say 'owt to them.

Nick Tessla says...

He was kicking the ball near the car , not at.

Did he attempt to take the child to his car or not?

If so, why and why did he change his mind?

If the individual had been an ordinary shopper, salesman etc. would the Police have been so quick to dismiss the witness accounts?
