Town Hall Woolston meeting postponed

Warrington Guardian: Town Hall Woolston meeting postponed Town Hall Woolston meeting postponed

A TOWN Hall meeting to scrutinise how a £1.2m ecology park has been allowed to fall into disrepair has been postponed.

Warrington Borough Council’s scrutiny committee was due to meet last Tuesday to discuss the deal for, and management of, Woolston Ecology Park.

Poulton with Fearnhead Parish Council, which called for the review, said the meeting was put off while a wrangle over what paperwork is made available to the committee is resolved.

It is now due to take place on March 19 PWFPC and Woolston Parish Council have agreed to allow their relevant paperwork to be viewed.

The meeting will focus on the state of grass, trees and paths in the ecology park.

Warrington Borough Council developed it with money from the North West Development Agency, and Government’s Waste Resources Action Programme, in 2010.

"Poulton with Fearnhead Parish Council, which called for the review, said the meeting was put off while a wrangle over what paperwork is made available to the committee is resolved." - No Ifs, Buts or maybes, every piece of paperwork should be made available to the reviewing body. I trust the reviewing body will be a wholly independent body and not a collection those who may have been involved or those will not be critical of their colleagues. Not so long ago and after decades of official obfuscation and dissembling across the board the people of Warrington were assured they would be replaced with frankness, openness and transparency. The then interim and now permanent CEO promised as much. If £1.2 million of public money has been needlessly squandered, those responsible whould be made to answer for their mistakes. No more cover ups please.

I never heard of this park until now, and after searching for directions to it I'm still none the wiser.
Poor support for a £1,200,000 project in my opinion, bravo to whoever has kicked off over it.

Ian Johnson has worked very hard in promoting the park and there is now a Brown Information sign on Manchester road opposite Paddington House.
