A garden fork - why?

Who sits at home and contemplates all the possible items you could threaten someone with, rejects knives etc. and decides on a garden fork?

Probably a very frightening experience for the people who worked there and some of the customers. Pretty deadly weapon to be threatened with, I wouldn't like it. Well done to those who showed some "have a go hero" spirit. Don't know if I would have done it.

I'd certainly have hesitated before I had a pop at the idiot.

Nothing in the report to suggest that the Police took any action against or even considered taking action against those who stopped him - as is normal in such a "have a go" event.
