Warrington MP hits out at education cuts

Warrington Guardian: Warrington North MP Helen Jones Warrington North MP Helen Jones

CUTS to education will hit pupils from areas of social deprivation, claims Helen Jones, Warrington North MP.

It has been revealed that there are 640 students, who are aged 18, studying in further education institutions in Warrington with 247 coming from deprived areas.

Mrs Jones said her parliamentary questions show that Government plans to reduce funding for 18 year olds in further education will hit areas where it will hurt the most.

She added: “According to the Government’s own figures more than one third of the 18 year olds studying in F.E. in Warrington come from areas of social deprivation.

“The answers to my parliamentary questions make it clear that the government are hitting those in most need.”

Its a pity she couldn't be bothered to vote against the bedroom tax, Then again, She is getting as much publicity in as she can before the next elections. She will need more than picture in the papers. Cuts to education have been going on for the last three years and we heard not a peep from her.
