MEET the babies whose birthdays will always begin with fireworks and choruses of Auld Lang Syne.

Eight youngsters were welcomed to the world on New Year’s Day at Warrington Hospital with an even split between baby boys and girls.

One of the first to say hello to 2014 was baby Luna to parents Dawn and Jason Warburton, from Culcheth.

The 28-year-old mum, who also has a son Alexander, aged two, did not even have time to get into the labour room when the tiny tot was born at 2.24am weighing 6lb 3oz.

Dawn added: “We had been in hospital for a while and I was just about to be moved to the labour ward when she came.

“It’s quite nice and feels quite special to have her birthday on New Year’s Day although I think we’re going to be the ones hosting the party on New Year’s Eve for a few years now!

“We picked out her name because it was one we liked but we were told it’s quite appropriate as there was a new moon on New Year’s Eve.”

Later in the day Orford couple Elina and Armands Balod had their third child Laura weighing 8lb 1oz.

The pair said the youngster’s siblings Daniel, aged eight and Rendija, aged five, were delighted to meet their new baby sister.
