GREAT SANKEY: FAMILY and friends who have lost loved ones through cancer have been celebrating after doubling their fundraising target.

As previously reported in the Warrington Guardian, the group joined together to raise cash for cancer research and set off from The Sloop pub, Great Sankey, to climb Mount Snowdon.

Emma Littler, who organised the fundraiser after her mum Carole died of a brain tumour last year, said: “We all managed to complete the walk up and down in five hours and raised well over £4,000 which is double our £2,000 target.

“It’s been amazing.”

The group thanked everyone who got involved with the climb and a fun day which followed and now also plan to climb Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in 2014.
