LYMM: BUDDING bards at a Lymm care home have produced their first poetry book in time for Christmas.

The residents at Keate House Care Home in Lymm set up a poetry group 12 months ago and have been working on a range of prose since.

Meeting every fortnight, they share short stories and poems over tea and biscuits before displaying their work on notice boards in the homes for other residents, visitors and staff to read.

Diane Clarkson, the care home administration manager who is involved in the running of the group, says the work has brought great pleasure to the home.

She added: “When we set up the poetry group last year it was with the aim of offering something different to our residents.

“Meeting every two weeks we are a friendly bunch who love to get together, have a good old catch up and debate the choice of words on our chosen theme. “It gives the members a chance to work together or individually and share their skills.”

The literacy group, set up by senior carer Pauline Jones, is made up of the residents in the care home who age from 76 to 93. n The Keate House poetry book is available from the home’s office on Brookfield Road for £2.50. All proceeds will go towards the residents and charity funds.
