FOOTPATH and cycleway improvements will take place in Birchwood early in the new year.
Warrington Borough Council has received a £4.65 million grant from the Government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund and part of the funds will be spent in Birchwood.
New routes will be created so they can be shared by walkers and cyclists and about 3km of existing footpaths will be widened with new lights.
Areas marked up for improvement are Warrington Road to Birchwood Boulevard, Dewhurst Road past Birchwood station to the junction of Dewhurst Road and Admirals Road and north along Admirals Road.
The route from the fire station and along the footpath will also be enhanced.
