YOUNGSTERS at Crosfields Amateur Rugby League Football Club in Great Sankey will soon see the benefits of a cash boost.
Britain’s largest amateur rugby league club received £300 to help maintain its facilities thanks to housebuilder David Wilson Homes North West’s ‘Our space, your place’ initiative.
Dominic Caswell, committee member at Crosfields ARLFC, said: “Support, such as the funding we have received from the ‘Our space’ scheme, is vital to help clubs like ours survive.
“We are so grateful to David Wilson Homes.
“The money will make a big difference in helping us to maintain our facilities, from making pitch repairs to improving the changing rooms.”
Since the scheme launched in 2010, it has helped 11 sports clubs across the region.
Steve Jackson, project co-ordinator at David Wilson Homes, said: “We are committed to supporting and developing the communities in which we build.
“Sports clubs play a vital role providing a healthy activity for youngsters and a place to come together for the community.”
The scheme helps groups with either volunteer time or funding.
The only condition is that support is used for something that will ‘genuinely improve a service, facilities or the environment’ within the area. To apply, visit ourspaceyourplace.co.uk.
