IT was a night of double celebrations for eight-year-old Hope Burton-Baddeley at the Warrington Guardian Inspiration Awards.

Not only did Hope find out that she had reached her goal of raising £4,000 for The Rainbow Children’s Foundation but she also picked up the award for charity champion of the year.

The St Wilfrid's Primary School pupil said: “I was really excited when I was in the car on my way to the awards and now I’m really happy.”

Hope, from Stockton Heath, has been determined to raise the money to buy a sanitation unit for children in Africa.

From organising cake sales to selling her own possessions on eBay, Hope has been selfless in making sure she hits her target.

Hope said: “I just love helping other people and now I can buy a sanitation unit for kids who don’t have the stuff we have.”

The eight-year-old is not planning on slowing down her charity efforts any time soon and will now focus her attention on Tommy’s, which funds research into pregnancy problems and provides information to parents.

This is a charity that is very close to Hope and her family’s heart after the death of her twin, Faith, at birth and her older sister Evie was also born 10 weeks early.

Hope said: “It’s great because I have raised all this money but I can’t stop because people still need help.”
