GREAT and green award winner Ste Dodd said he was stunned when his name was read out and thought he had been included to ‘make up the numbers’.
The 46-year-old dad, of Grasmere Avenue, has been key in protecting Peel Hall from development and has taken hundreds of pictures of wildlife for a Facebook page documenting the flora and fauna that was threatened.
He added: “I had seen what other people have done and know there’s a lot of deserving people in Warrington so I really did think I was here to make the numbers up.
“I think I was nominated because I was daft enough to think I could make a difference.”
Partner Khrystal Haskew-Jones, aged 28, added: “I’m so proud of him and seeing him up on stage means everything to me.
“It’s lovely to know all his hard work has been noticed.”
It was also a special evening for the couple as it was their first night out since their baby Holly Blue was born four-and-a-half months ago.
Khrystal added: “He had been chasing getting a picture of a Holly Blue butterfly for weeks as they land very rarely and then one actually landed and my contractions started so we had to choose that as the name.”
