MEET the kleptomaniac kitties regularly bringing their owners embarrassing presents.

The mischievous moggies have picked up a fondness for hunting and dragging home socks, tea towels, bibs and knickers from neighbours’ gardens with the biggest haul involving more than 10 items in one night.

The trio owned by Wendy Rowbotham, who is pictured with the cats’ swag from over four nights, picked up the habit in the last three months bringing home up to 70 items a week but the Chapelford mum has no idea why.

The 47-year-old, of Houston Gardens, said: “The eldest cat Tigger has always brought sponges home and then her two children Lightning and Sam started bringing home empty crisp packets and sweet wrappers.

“At first we just thought it had blown over from children littering around the play area but then we started finding baby grows, bibs and knickers.

“They must be dragging the clothes along and if they can’t jump over the fence with them they’ll just leave them outside the front door.

“It’s got to the point where I’m rushing downstairs first thing in the morning to pick up anything they have left at the front of the house before my neighbours see!”

Wendy, who lives with her two children Gemma, aged 18, and Oliver, aged four, said she initially threw the clothes away but is now welcoming Chapelford residents to come and collect any items they think may have gone missing.

The Great Sankey High School teaching assistant added: “My neighbours have said they have seen the cats following each other like they’re hunting in a pack.

“Oliver says when he comes home now ‘Let’s see what the cats have left us’.

“They look really proud afterwards like they’re saying ‘Look what we have brought you’.

“They’re lovely cats but it’s just a bit embarrassing.”
