TWO Widnes fans have been charged by police following fighting in the terraces at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Police say that two supporters have now been charged with public order offences outside the stadium in connection to crowd trouble during the Super League clash on Thursday.
A 25-year-old and a 24-year-old will appear at Halton Magistrates Court in September.
Three other Widnes fans were also arrested.
A 25-year-old man has been bailed pending further enquiries, while a 22-year-old man and 23-year-old man were issued fixed penalty notices.
Following the incident Widnes released an apology and said any fans causing trouble will be banned for life, and their names printed on the club website.
Police are also investigating video footage that has emerged of a steward punching a Widnes supporter several times on Thursday.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "We are aware of video footage circulating on the internet.
"The matter is being investigated and officers are currently reviewing all information available to establish if any criminal offences are identified.
"Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101.”
