A CHARITY that brings children affected by the Chernobyl disaster to Cheshire is raising funds for this year’s visits.
Host families across the county – including ones in Warrington – each year welcome young people from Belarus affected by 1986’s nuclear accident. The aim is to give them the benefits of living in an uncontaminated area for four weeks.
Organisers are holding a ceilidh at Terra Nova School Performing Arts Centre, Jodrell Bank, Holmes Chapel, on Saturday, March 23, from 8pm until 11pm. There will be a live band and caller plus a bar. The event is open to all ages and no ceilidh experience is needed.
Tickets cost £7.50/£3 (child) and are available by calling either 01565 654383 or 01625 522779. All proceeds will go towards paying for the children’s visits later this year. More information is available at chernobyl-children.org.uk.
