FAULTY street lights will continue to be repaired before the council signs a contract to start a widespread replacement plan.

As reported in the Warrington Guardian last week, bosses at Warrington Borough Council are borrowing more than £30m to replace 22,000 street lights in the town.

This week, bosses have confirmed current faulty lights will be replaced as usual until the new contract kicks in from next April.

The investment will see 22,000 lights replaced, short of the overall 28,000 lights currently in the town.
