THE story of how an Appleton husband and wife met has won them a trip to Paris.

Julianne Riley, aged 49, of Woodstock Gardens, entered a national Valentine’s Day competition with Costa in the Golden Square.

It asked for the tales of how couples got it together, with the most original picked.

She told the story of meeting husband Martin, aged 46, 20 years ago on holiday in Tenerife.

“I lived in Liverpool, and him in Birmingham, and we got separated in the airport on the way back,” said Julianne.

“We hadn’t swapped numbers so he went through the phone book using my surname to locate me.

“He eventually found me and we married a year later.

“They chose our story, which is fantastic, and now we’re going to Paris.”
