ST ROCCO’S Hospice Starlight Walk marshal Jim Eccles is urging women across the borough to join him for this year’s walk.

The 72-year-old from Penketh has been volunteering as a marshal for every midnight walk since it started in 2005.

And this year he has also been handing out leaflets and posters to get more women signed up for this year’s walk on Friday, June 21.

He said: “There is a reason why so many of the marshals volunteer year after year, it’s because the Starlight Walk is such a fantastic night.

“Every year we have ladies coming over to thank us and tell us how much they have enjoyed the walk. The atmosphere is brilliant.”

Women can choose to walk a 6.5 mile or 13 mile marshalled circuit through the town’s streets.

You can register at stroccos.org.uk or by calling the fundraising department on 575780.
