FIVE suspects arrested after armed police closed part of the M6 in Warrington on Saturday have been released without charge. 

Lancashire Police say they had followed a car from Lancashire into Warrington after a tip-off one of the passengers was carrying a gun.  

The southbound carriageway was closed at around 4pm at junction 21a at Croft.

Five people were arrested but all have now been released. 

The car was searched but no gun was found during the operation.
