Mum who stole £140k only has to pay back £1

Warrington Crown Court Warrington Crown Court

A MUM who stole more than £139,000 over 18 months from her employers will not be forced to pay any of it back.

The Warrington Guardian reported in November last year Deborah Jukes, of Chandler Way, Lowton had stolen the cash to to pay off the previous company she had stolen from as well as a luxury holiday and 40th birthday party.

The 41-year-old was jailed for two years.

But Warrington Crown Court heard on Monday Jukes had no ‘realisable assets’ and the amount which could be recovered was £1 which was not going to be enforced by the courts.

It's about time the Warrington Guardian started addressing all people by 1st name or courtesy title. Politeness costs nothing neither does manners.

its a real deterrent to other people giving it a thought, now they may as well give it a go and rip off there employer, if this is the worst that that happen you 2yrs which will end up 12 months isn't a bad exchange, it would take some people 6 or 7 years to earn that.

Was Mr Andrew Mackie born yesterday? Clearly has never read any newspaper before.

Plus, of all the things to get up in arms about over this story, is it really the fact the subject was called "Jukes" rather than "Mrs Jukes" or "Deborah", or perhaps even "Deb"?
