POLICE have arrested and charged a 47-year-old man following a raid on a flat in Latchford.
Officers served a warrant at the property on Priory Street at around 2.10pm following suspicions about cannabis being grown in the building.
More than 140 cannabis plants were recovered.
The address raided is above the Jack and Daniels Chinese takeaway.
Police at the scene said that the terraced house immediately next to the takeaway had also been searched.
Neighbours complained that a strong smell of cannabis had been coming from the building for around six months.
One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "One half of this street tends to be quite decent but then it deteriorates half way down."
The man has been charged with possession of cannabis and has been remanded to appear before magistrates in Runcorn tomorrow, Friday.
Anyone with information can call police on 101.
